Four cities in ten days! Exploring Cancun, Cuba, Atlanta and Miami

I decided to travel late June to avoid the unnecessary ticket and hotel inflated prices in August. I have always wanted to do multiple destinations on one itinerary. It can be a bit hectic when you’re not travelling alone. This time I went solo and I couldn’t be happier as all my tours were planed around me alone. Such Bliss!

The night I arrived in Cancun, I went to the City with a friend that happened to be on vacation in Cancun at that time. What a coincidence! We went clubbing together! It was the first time I hear music being played with the video showing on LCD at the same time. It was mental, we partied till 5:00 AM. We went to the same club again before I left.

CANCUN

I started off in Cancun. Holly Molly everythng you hear about the party life is true. Not like I had the intention of partying hard. Chichen itza took me to Cancun, I have always wanted to see this breathtaking pyramid. I arrived on an afternoon and I booked all my day tours immediately which included a trip to chichen itza, swimming in cenote, boat cruise to isla mujeres.

Trip to Chichen Itza :- I’m glad I went on this tour as it was such an educating and intersting tour. Although, the weather was so hot and the travelling time was longer than I expected. I got picked up from my hotel (Emporio cancun) at 8AM, we didn’t get there until 1pm, so it was a bit tiring but given that I hadn’t slept the night before, I slept on the bus so I didn’t really mind it. Met some exciting people on the tour and the tour guide was amazing.

Swimming in the cenote

Never experienced something like that before, it was an awesome experience, the water was so cold and refreshing at the same time especially with the weather being hot. I loved every bit of it.

Boat cruise to Isla mujeres

This was on my last day but the most interesting day. I woke up that morning, took a shower and decided to go take my picture in front of the famous touristic Cancun sign. I flagged a taxi and there happened to be a lady in it. I apologised and told her I didn’t know the taxi was occupied, then she asked where I was going I told her and she happened to be going to the same place. In a nut shell we spent the day together exploring Isla Mujeres and I made a new friend:)

Isla mujeres is a beautiful island. I can get over the scenic boat cruise. The water was blue, turquoise and green. Absolutely beautiful! Never seen anything like it. When we went snorkelling, the water was crystal clear with loads of different colourful fishes. The day couldn’t be better.

Clubbing

After the day time tour was over, I just go clubbing at night. Cocobongo and La vanquita were my favourite.

CUBA

I remember telling people I was going to Cuba and they started panicking on my behalf. I took the bull by the horn and off I went. I was so excited I went on this trip. So much history in one place, the buildings, classic cars and beaches. I stayed at a casa particular (airbnb) in Havana and explored other cities such as  Vanadero and Vinalles from there.

The people were so friendly, the only barrier was the language as most of the population speak Spanish. One thing I like was the fact there was no easy access to internet. I know a lot of people wouldn’t like this but I loved it. It was like going back in time. I met and had great conversations with people I ll probably never see again. Even when I made a friend we had to agree to meet at a certain time and location. Our phones were not working. I loved this and if I ever want a quiet time Cuba will be that place to visit.

Also, another thing I was amazed about was the fact that the Yoruba tradition is being practiced in Cuba, they have gods such as Ogun, Ifa, Sango etc. A couple of them are herbalist and they consult and read incantations like native Yoruba people.

Havana has my heart, the buildings and classic cars has a lot of history. I stayed at Centro Habana which is the prime location in Havana. During the day I explored the city by walking and only did with the classic car once. At night I went to salsa, I was lucky to witness the most beautiful salsa ever in buenavista social club with talented Cuban Artists. A bit pricey but worth every bit of it.

The beach in Vanadero is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been in my life! clear sand, calm waves, blue water and sky. It is stunning! I’m happy I took time to travel there.

Vinalles tour was educational, we all got to know about the production of Cigars. We visited the farmer’s house and learned how to make a cigar. We also stopped over to have some PinaColada, you literally pour the rum yourself so good luck getting drunk. I outdid my self as I was excited that was even a thing.

Food and drinks

The food was amazing! I can only say this because I got used to it. At first, I was a bit reluctant but I was determined to immerse myself in the culture. I ate the local food throughout my stay which is mostly Rice and Beans/Peas.

Oh Mojito! I had it everyday till I left. Honestly, it was nice everywhere but the best one I had was at fantasy night club.

Nightlife

I was surprised that Havana has a nightlife, We partied Cuban style,  imagine Hip-hop with island music. It was mental! My favourite is still the Salsa and clubbing at fantasy club

I would like to state that what people say about Cuba being dangerous, isolated and the people being uneducated because its a socialist economy is a MYTH. Cubans are educated with very good professions and a functioning government. There are schools, hospital, electricity and the government do look after her people.

Atlanta

Not a lot happened here. Let’s just say I partied the entire time and I did visit CNN headquarters too.

Miami

This was my roadie before I left for Dubai. Stayed on South Beach. Spent the day by the pool and explored the city. At night I went clubbing. The club I visited were LIV, Club 11 and Story. Lest I forget, I did watch a live performance at faena hotel too. One of the best nights!

So if you’ve been thinking about doing multiple destinations. Go for it but make sure you go with someone on the same energy level as you or simply go SOLO! Trust me there are so many amazing people out there.
