It is no news that South Africa is my favourite destination. I try to visit twice in year. This time it was a safari break, where I wake up to the views of Elephants, Zebras, Giraffe and other animals walking in the park.
It was the beginning of May, the weather was just perfect. Not too cold with just the right amount of sunshine. I stayed at Bakubung Bush Lodge which is in Pilanesberg National Park, located North West of Johannesburg.
Our itineraries consisted of a game drives in the mornings and evenings, lion walk and the Big 5 spotting. I like to call it life in the wild.
The Experience
On the first day I arrived, I opted for the evening game drive, the following morning I did the morning game drive then followed by the bush walking. All of these experiences availed me the opportunity to see the the BIG 5 animals.
Pilanesberg has a wide range of animals from Impala (indigenous to Africa) to the king of the jungle and I did see an owl too. Every safari dream is to see the BIG 5 which includes the Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhinoceros. I need the permission to add Giraffe to this list. I didn’t see them all at once but the hardest to spot was Leopard. I couldn’t be happier. I have been on a couple of Safaris but I have never spotted a leopard until now. It was such a beauty and stunning! That moment was definitely the highlight of my trip.

Nightlife and Food
In the evenings, we all gather in the bush for some entertainment by the locals where we eat lovely organic, fresh meals and drink the finest wine. I couldn’t have wished for a better safari break.

Overall Experience
The hospitality was great, every member of staff was so helpful and always happy to make conversations. The room was lovely with animal print carpet. Nothing beats my view in the morning and when i’m sat on the terrace in the evening. I mean i’m casually having a glass of wine while the animals are busy doing their thing. Never seen anything so beautiful and I am privileged to experience this. My only regret was I forgot my binoculars and didn’t have a longer lens to capture these beautiful moments. On the brighter side, I savoured all the beautiful moments, it’s crystal clear in my memory.
